Lloyd Corcoran was born in Caerphilly, Wales, shortly before moving to the United Arab Emirates where he attended Dubai College. He is currently a PhD student at Cardiff University researching cooling system provisions for the UK, with a focus upon modelling systems and cooling technologies. 

He received his BEng degree in Mechanical Engineering at Cardiff University (2016) before beginning his industrial work in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, as a mechanical engineer at an MEP consultancy. His work included designing and managing the installation of heating/cooling systems, plumbing and fire protection for hotels, retail outlets and housing. His final year in industry involved managing site coordination for a luxury high rise apartment building on the Palm Jumeriah. After his industrial experience, he returned to his academic studies and obtained a master’s degree (MSc) in advanced mechanical engineering from Cardiff University (2021).
