Iván De la Cruz was born in Valles City, Mexico. He is a PhD student and Research Assistant at Cardiff University. His research interests include dynamic modelling and control of energy systems—including domestic and district heating and cooling systems, thermal energy storage, and integrated energy systems.
He received his BSc and MSc degrees in Aeronautical Engineering with a major in Flight Dynamics from the Autonomous University of Nuevo Leon (Monterrey, Mexico) in 2016 and 2018, respectively. He started his PhD degree in Electrical Engineering at Cardiff University (Wales, UK) in 2019. His industrial experience includes the development and simulation of virtual dynamic prototypes of agricultural machinery for John Deere (Monterrey, Mexico) from 2018 to 2019.
During his PhD studies, Mr De la Cruz has supported teaching modules such as Control Engineering, Automatic Control, Grid Integration of Renewables, Electrical Machines and Drives, and Power Systems Analysis. He has also supervised undergraduate students in their 3rd year project. As a Research Assistant he conducts work on the dynamic modelling and control of integrated energy systems which include thermal energy storage.
